I am Edgar Pelayo, and I am running for South Gate City Council because our community deserves leadership that listens and operates with high standards of transparency, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility. As a long-time resident and a proud product of South Gate, my commitment is simple: providing true fiduciary representation for a better South Gate.

Deep Roots in Our Community

South Gate is the community that shaped me. It is where I went to school and it is where my family, friends, and neighbors live and work. I have had the privilege of representing many clients here in South Gate, listening to their goals and dreams, and sharing their hopes for our city’s future. This campaign isn’t just another transaction for me; I am running to serve the place I am proud to call home.

Proven Leadership & Trusted Expertise

Managing a city’s future requires a deep understanding of financial oversight, strategic operations, and executive leadership. I hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Pepperdine University. My professional background spans business management, finance, operations, and experience leading a non-profit organization. Furthermore, as an experienced real estate broker, my entire career is built on fiduciary duty. I put my clients' financial interests above all else in every single transaction. I intend to do the same at City Hall, protecting your tax dollars and making sure you know where the money is being spent.

I have served as a Parks & Recreation commissioner in South Gate since 2023, and I am an active grassroots advocate. I believe in organizing and mobilizing residents to ensure our community’s voice is not ignored on the issues that matter most.

Why Edgar Pelayo
is running for
City Council?

I am running for city council to restore trust and improve the relationship between the city government and the residents of South Gate by working together to restore quality of life once available to South Gate residents. Most importantly, I am running for city council to empower residents to get involved and make their voices heard.

I can’t do it alone, but I am committed to working with all stakeholders to improve conditions across all city departments and all city programming.

Priorities

When elected to the City Council, my focus will be on maximizing the taxpayer’s return on investment through clear, actionable priorities.

I will fight for proper use of public funds, budget oversight, and financial clarity so you know how your money is being spent.
We must prioritize important infrastructure projects and deliver tangible results for our neighborhoods.
Improving opportunities for resident participation so that local government works with the community and for the community.
